Chicken Legs A L'Orange | Easy Chicken Crock Pot Recipe

The last third of the marmalade jar is some how not as apetising as the first third.

This recipe came about one morning when I found a nearly finished jar lerking in the corner of the pantry.

Chicken Legs A L'Orange is now a family favorite - luckily, so is our family's most favorite brand of marmalade, so we always have the essential ingredient on hand!

Chicken Legs A L'Orange

Serves 4-6
Cook on low for 5 to 7 hours

4-6 chicken legs
1 cup orange juice
3-4 Tbsp marmalade
3 sticks of celery
1 small onion finely chopped
1 large green bell pepper (capsicum) chopped
4oz/100g mushrooms sliced
1 tsp dried parsley
freshly ground salt and pepper to taste

1 Tbsp cornstarch/cornflour to thicken juices before serving

Combine all ingredient except cornstarch into the slow cooker.

Cover and cook on low for 5 to 7 hours.
Check chicken juices are running clear then thicken sauce by adding 3 tablespoons of cooking liquid to a jug with 2 tablespoon of cornstarch, stir until smooth, add to slow cooker, turn to high for 15-30 minutes until thickened.
Serve over rice, couscous or creamy mashed potatoes with either salad or steamed seasonal vegetables.

Slow Cooker Chicken Legs with Chili, Ginger and Pineapple | Easy Chicken Crock Pot Recipe

Whole chicken legs are often on special at the supermarket, so next time you buy some, grab a can of pineapple too and make this tasty treat for the family.   If you have a meals worth of rice in the fridge that you have prepared earlier, and some Asian inspired stir fry vegetables in the freezer that you can quickly stir fry, you will be able to serve dinner in minutes with this dish.  Adjust the level of 'spice' to suit your family's taste and this crock pot chicken recipe is sure to become a family favorite!

Chicken legs are ideally cooked in one layer, so if you are cooking 6 chicken legs and in a 6 quart slow cooker, life gets easier. But what do you do if most of the time you only need a 4 quart slow cooker to feed the family?

Introducing the most versatile and practical solution to this dilemma - a multiple insert slow cooker!

This 3 in 1 slow cooker with multiple inserts is the perfect crock pot as you have a 2, 4 and 6 quart slow cooker that takes up no more space than the base, as the slow cooker inserts nest inside each other for storage.  You will find desserts, sauces and oatmeal work out great in the 2 quart, the mid size is great for stews and puddings and the large slow cooker insert is wonderful for slow cooker legs - like in this recipe!

Easy Chicken Crock Pot Recipe - Mediterranean Summer Chicken

Mediterranean Summer Chicken is one of my favorite summer crock pot recipes.  When it's hot outside the last thing you want to do is heat up the kitchen cooking, but if you have a slow cooker you won't be heating up your kitchen to cook this delicious dish!

I cook with my slow cooker almost every day, all year around.  I love this dishes fresh flavors, they lend themselves well to being served with couscous, fresh tomatoes and a green salad.  You will find Mediterranean Summer Chicken makes a perfect main meal any day of the week.

The featured slow cooker for this post is the incredibly popular Hamilton Beach 33967 Set 'n Forget 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker because of the thermometer probe feature - which turns the slow cooker automatically to 'warm mode' as soon as the food is cooked - how cool is that!  Absolutely fabulous feature if you slow cook chicken pieces or whole roasts frequently - you just program in the temperature for the type of meat and when it's reached, your food is perfectly cooked.

A 6 quart slow cooker such as the Hamilton Beach 33967 Set 'n Forget 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker is a great size to cook this...
